About Us — GAL Valle del Belìce

Identity and Legal Status

GAL Valle del Belìce S.c.a r.l. (Local Action Group) is a non-profit limited liability consortium, legally established with registered and operational headquarters in Partanna (TP), at Via G. Garibaldi n. 63.

Formed as a balanced and participatory public-private partnership, the LAG unites the municipal administrations of the Belice district, trade associations from the agricultural and productive sectors, protection consortia, and private economic operators. Its primary objective is to formulate, promote, and coordinate sustainable, innovative, and integrated rural development strategies.

Institutional Mission and Local Development

Operating as a Local Development Agency for the territory of Terre Sicane and the Belice Valley, the LAG implements the European LEADER / CLLD (Community-Led Local Development) approach, backed by funds from the European Union, the Italian Republic, and the Sicilian Region (under RDP Sicily and the CAP Strategic Plan PSP Sicily 2023-2027):

• Territorial Outreach and Listening: facilitating continuous dialogue among citizens, agricultural producers, artisans, tourism operators, and local institutions to identify genuine local needs and priorities.
• Management and Publication of Calls: issuing public tenders and grant notices targeting productive investments by micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises, experiential tourism, and the revitalization of essential services in rural areas.
• Enhancement of Agri-food and Cultural Value Chains: fostering short supply chains, PDO/PGI certified local specialties, and the landscape, historic, and archaeological identity linked to the ancient Selinuntine territory (the Chora Selinuntina).
• Transparency and Beneficiary Support: ensuring full integrity, accessibility, and administrative traceability in the award and reporting of public grant funding.

Territory and Membership

The operational area of the LAG spans member Municipalities across the provinces of Trapani, Agrigento, and Palermo: Partanna, Menfi, Castelvetrano, Gibellina, Santa Ninfa, Salaparuta, Poggioreale, Montevago, Sambuca di Sicilia, Santa Margherita di Belìce, Caltabellotta, Contessa Entellina, Salemi, and Sciacca.
